It’s time for our favorite monthly series, Coolest Creations by YD Kids! Each month we showcase some of the impressive final projects created by Youth Digital students. These projects reflect all the hard work our kids put into their courses, as well as some of the tech skills and software they learned along the way.
Let’s start with “Gravity,” a final project for our App Design course by George C.!
In App Design 1, kids learn basic mobile app development skills as they design and program their own iPhone® game. This YD student created a space-themed game with different planets for each world!
In the screenshot above, you can see how George made a maze with his obstacles and appropriately named the level “Tight Corners.” You have to use the launchers to get around the obstacles in this level! George did a great job with consistently using a space theme throughout the app, and he even imported his own images to use inside the game.
And now let’s take a look at Blender City Bank by Austin S.!
In our 3D Printing & Modeling course, students learn real 3D modeling using Blender, a professional 3D graphics and animation software program. That’s where Austin got the name for this project!
We love how he used 3D characters to tell a story. You can see the hero of the story, Sphero, with customized colors, along with a 3D bandit in distress. Awesome job, Austin!
For our last project this month, let’s look at a game built by a student in our 3D Game Design course!
In this course, kids learn video game design skills as they create their own 3D video game from scratch. This YD student started his 3D game off with a futuristic house filled with freezing chambers. The glass window panes give this house an awesome look!
That’s all for the October edition of Coolest Creations by YD Kids! Stay tuned next month to see more final projects from our students.
