It’s time for our favorite monthly series, Coolest Creations by YD Kids! Each month we showcase some of the impressive final projects created by Youth Digital students. These projects reflect all the hard work our kids put into their courses, as well as some of the tech skills and software they learned along the way.
To kick it off, check out Zak’s project from one of our most popular courses, Server Design 1!
In Server Design 1, students learn Java programming as they design and develop their own Minecraft world from start to finish! This screenshot shows a Minecraft server created by our student Zak M. Since Zak created his server from scratch, he has total control of every aspect of his Minecraft world.
In this shot, we can see that Zak gives players a large selection of kits to choose from in the lobby before battling in his server. He presents the details of the kits and their strengths and weaknesses so players can make an informed choice. Zak did a fantastic job customizing his Minecraft world– and we had a lot of fun playing it!
Next, let’s take a look at Garin’s final project for 3D Printing & Modeling 1!
In 3D Printing & Modeling 1, students learn a variety of techniques to customize their 3D models, including how to sculpt, texture, arrange, and render 3D models in preparation for real 3D printing.
Garin H. created an awesome character for his final course project using professional software, Blender. This screenshot shows a frame of his revolving turntable movie that shows off the character that he could send off to be 3D printed out of plastic or even metal! We partner with Shapeways, the world’s leading 3D printing marketplace and community, to allow kids to print their favorite models that they created in the course.
Lastly, we’ll see a mobile game created by our student Jonathan!
Jonathan N. created this app in our App Design 1 course, which allows kids to complete the process of designing a mobile app from start to finish, including choosing characters, implementing level design, and programming the app’s functionality.
In his app, Jonathan displays very clean and professional level design, which features a medieval world, a present day world, and a futuristic world! All three of these worlds included nine levels within them, which makes for a fun and challenging game. Awesome work, Jonathan!
That’s all for the November edition of Coolest Creations by YD Kids! Stay tuned next month to see more final projects from our students.
